A class for the thing with no class
Open a raw point cloud and most of it comes back as one thing: Unclassified.
The A.S.P.R.S. standard gives you Ground, Building, Vegetation, a couple dozen others, all numbered 0 through 63. It does not give you Car. It does not give you Trucks. If a scan is full of parked vehicles sitting on top of the pavement you are trying to survey, you either live with them in your ground surface or you clean them out point by point.
I did that by hand a couple of times.
What it needed to do
Two things, really.
Let me define classes the standard never anticipated. Not by hacking existing IDs. ReCap reserves 64 through 255 for exactly this, so a custom class can sit next to the standard ones without colliding with anything a different tool expects to see.
Then apply it to points that belongs to that class.

That screenshot is a real scan, not a demo file. Class 99, name Car, color purple, applied to every point in the scan that was a parked vehicle instead of pavement.
Why this one stuck
Most of what I build gets used once and forgotten. This one gets used per project, because every project has its own version of "the thing on the ground that is not the ground." Sometimes it is cars. Sometimes it is stockpiled material, or temporary fencing, or a construction trailer that will not be there in six months.
The tool does not know what any of that is. It only knows how to create the classification and assign whatever name and color someone gives it.
